A German black crackle-finish binocular dissecting microscope Carl Zeiss, Jena, circa 1920 The short binocular body tube with paired objective lenses inscribed with CARL ZEISS, JENA trademark and Nr. 76920 to prism housing, fitted via rack and pinion focus adjustment to an arched limb applied to the upper surface of the rectangular stage mounted with slide clips over pivoted blanking plate and adjustable plano-concave mirror beneath, on fixed cast Y-shaped foot, in original mahogany box with three pairs of objective lenses, two pairs of eyepiece lenses and other accessories, the box 38cm (15ins) high excluding handle. The current lot includes the original purchase receipt which states that the instrument was purchased on 27th September 1921 from J. Lizars of Edinburgh by a Mr. James E. Black of Nethercroft, Peebles for £33, 1s. Condition report disclaimer
