A GERMAN BRASS HEXAGONAL TABLE CLOCK Hans John, Königs Berth; first half 18th century The dial with applied silvered chapter ring with engraved Roman and Arabic numerals within engraved arcading, foliate and scallop engraved gilt centre, later hands, scallop and foliate engraved spandrels, strike/silent lever by chapter IX, the movement with hexagonal plates secured by five gilt baluster pillars, the top-plate signed Hans John, Königs Berth , foliate chased and engraved gilt-metal bridge to the blued steel barrel click, later foliate engraved brass platform for the regulation and balance cock, the partially re-trained movement with fusee and chain to the spring barrel with pinned cap, resting barrel for the strike on a bell within the hinged lower cover of the case on winged claw-and-ball feet, the hexagonal sides typically glazed within D-ended panels; within a brown leather travelling case with foliate engraved lock to the front, the brass portal cover engraved with the initials CGVK and below that engraved with a crowned eagle and military trophy 5¾ in. (14.5 cm.) diam; 3 in. (7.5 cm.) high
