Circa 1590 The movement with stackfreed to the going train with later bridgecock verge escapement with unusual regulation arm devised on a rack-and-pinion system regulated from a gilt rosette-engraved disc atop the countwheel and calibrated 1/8 and engraved ERIE*SBATI , the strike train with spring barrel and steel calibrated countwheel recessed into the backplate in the usual manner and with arrowhead index, further alarm train with steel double clapper hammer, the backplate signed LRP around a Cross Keys stamp (Riga?), the top plate secured to a brass plate tightly engraved with concentric foliage around the band, the base with foliate engraved arcading displaying the bell and acting as a sound fret, the whole resting on foliate engraved tripod feet, the cross resting upon the domed movement cover engraved with strapwork and foliage and flowerheads, the base of the cross set with a silver skull-and-crossbones with automaton head rising and falling with the strike of each hour, the foliate engraved cross applied with a silvered Corpus Christi with a later? silverd plaque above cast with the letters INRI beneath a foliate cast and engraved sphere centred by a brass Roman chapter ring and revolving against a steel arrowhead pointer and with alarm-set hand beneath the sphere 12 in.
