A GREEK BRONZE MIRROR HANDLE ARCHAIC PERIOD, CIRCA EARLY 5TH CENTURY B.C. Finely modelled in the form of a kouros, the nude male youth standing with his legs together, his abdominal musculature, including the iliac crest, well defined, the navel and nipples punched, the clavicle a distinct V at the base of his neck, his arms both raised up at right angles, the palms forward with the elongated fingers together, the thumbs flexed, his oval face with bulging almond-shaped eyes and a characteristic "archaic" smile, his plaited hair falling in a thick mass onto his shoulders, brushed forward along his forehead and bound in a band, a mortise at the top of his head for attachment of the mirror 6½ in. (16.5 cm.) high
