Disciple of Rabbi Abdullah Somech. After the death of his father in 1859, at age 26, he delivered a sermon in his stead in the Great Synagogue, thereafter he spoke there every Shabbat for fifty years. He was famous worldwide as "one of a generation" in his knowledge of the revealed and hidden Torah. Some of his books: Rav Pe'alim, Torah Lishma, Ben Ish Chai, Ben Ish Chayil, Ben Yehoyada, Od Yoseph Chai, Leshon Chachamim, Aderet Eliyahu, Chasdei Avot etc. 2 pages, 13.5 cm.
