1888 Vintage Winchester Model 1873 rifle, serial number 268323. Standard 24" round barrel and full-length magazine tube. Standard front and rear barrel sights. Chambered in .38-40 WCF. Plain trigger. Blue with casehardened buttplate, lever, and hammer. Plain, straight grain walnut stock and forearm. Crescent, rifle style buttplate. CONDITION: Excellent overall with approximately 93%+ bright original blue with areas of blue loss blending with a pleasing blue-brown patina. Strong case color on hammer. Lever shows traces of case color turning mostly a grey-brown patina. Buttplate is mostly a grey-brown patina. Wood is sound, showing modest wear with light dings and scratches from normal use.
