Dovetail lump barrels with steel bead front sight on slightly tapered concave smooth rib engraved "J.D. DOUGALL GUN & RIFLE MANUFACTURER TO H.R.H. THE PRINCE OF WALES, 59 St. JAMES St LONDON". Brown Damascus twist barrels with serial number, minute "HIGHEST" and "IP". Barrel flats with London commercial view and proof marks, as well as "13". Second barrel set with tapered slightly concave machine matte rib and Birmingham proofs. Forearm with rotary underlever opener and point pattern checkering throughout. Exterior iron and lever engraved with acanthus scroll and florals. Inside of foream with serial number and indistinct miniscule stamp. Sidelock action engraved with well executed scroll and signed "J. D. Dougall". Pierced side lever engraved en suite. Scalloped and engraved recoil shields and tang. Tang with a three flower motif in a reserve. Well filed cocks engraved en suite. Bottom of action engraved "J D DOUGALL'S / PATENT LOCKFAST". Straight English style grip with teardrops behind actions and checkered through wrist in point pattern. Skeleton buttplate engraved en suite with receiver. Housed in a relined leather case with reproduction Dougall label and accessories comprising a clear glass oil bottle, brass pull through, mop, brush, and cleaning rag. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels retain much of their brown finish, possibly a factory quality refresh, with some normal rubbing to bright metal from handling and operation. Locks are very good, essentially dove grey, with some traces of case color in protected areas. Stock is very good with a few minor bumps and bruises from handling and gentle use. Matte rib barrel a later addition but well fit. Case is fine as relined, exterior with with leather drying and some scrapes acquired over time, and accessories are fine as associated. EW CORRECTION: Action works appropriately when operated by hand. Bores of barrel set (A) are good with some orange peel at breech. Bores of barrel set (B) are very good with a few minor areas of roughage.
