H. 138 x W. 56 cm (painting) H. 193 x W. 63.5 cm (scroll) Provenance: Collection Peter Poldervaart, Amsterdam Note: Born in Omi province, Kishi Chikudo was a Japanese-style painter who first learnt paintings from Kano Eigaku, then Kishi Renzan from whom he took his name. He was well-known for painting landscape and animals, particularly excelling at tigers. In 1896 he was appointed to the art committee of the Imperial Household.
