A late 19th century French bronze and ormolu mantel clock, surmounted with a figure of a Chinaman holding a parasol above the enamel tablet numeralled drum case, supported by an elephant, on scroll plinth, eight day movement striking on a bell, stamped R & C, Paris and London, height 17in. Estimate £2,000-3,000 This clock looks to have been restored within the past 10 to 20 years or so, gilding to ormolu is fresh and the bronze has a rich chocolate brown tone, enamelled numerals to dial are in good condition lacking numbering at 3 o'clock for the 15 for some reason, hands look later, movement equally in good clean condition but not tested for timekeeping, backplate stamped R & C, Paris and London 3167, comes with pendulum and an associated older winding key.
