Beschreibung:

During the Civil War most of the Colt 1861 Navy revolvers that entered military service did not receive standard inspection marks, but instead were inspected at the close of the war. This revolver was inspected by the Navy at this point, as is denoted by an anchor stamp on the barrel and a "P/GG" inspector mark on the face of the cylinder for Guert Gansevoort. Otherwise, this example is standard as manufactured in 1861 with an "S" inspected 7 - 1/2" round barrel, German silver blade front sight, 6-shot percussion cylinder with naval engagement scene, brass grip straps, "L" inspector marked brass trigger guard, and smooth walnut grips. CONDITION: Good exhibiting an overall mottled grey patina with some cleaned light pitting. Markings light with portions of cylinder scene still visible. Brass components starting to take on a red-hued patina in some areas. Grips good with scattered impressions expected on a martial arm. Shootable bore with some pitting. Fine mechanics. Numbers matching on barrel assembly, frame, cylinder, cylinder arbor, trigger guard, backstrap, and wedge. Two frame screws appear to be replacements.
