A NEAR PAIR OF LATE LOUIS XV ORMOLU-MOUNTED CHINESE CELADON PORCELAIN VASES AUX TRITONS ATTRIBUTED TO PIERRE GOUTHIERE, CIRCA 1770, THE PORCELAIN QIANLONG (1736-1795) Each vase of baluster shape, decorated with birds amongst flowering prunus blossom and bamboo, one with a phoenix, mounted to the rim with a flared gadrooned neck supported by infant triton handles, each with entwined double fish tails and supporting berried foliate garlands, on a ribbon-tied bulrush base supported by four turtles, on a square plinth cast with guilloche enclosing flowerheads, minor differences, one previously but not originally with further griffin feet below the base 13¾ in.
