It featured a stronger storyline than the Brothers' earlier Paramount comedies and was a big hit for the studio. Groucho Marx himself, in his autobiography Groucho and Me, named A Night of the Opera as one of his two favorite movies of all his films, alongside A Day at the Races (NY: Simon & Schuster, 1989, p 234).
