A PADPARADSCHA SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND RING, BY ETCETERA
A PADPARADSCHA SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND RING, BY ETCETERA Set with a cushion-shaped padparadscha weighing 14.65 carats, within a pear-shaped diamond gallery surround, to the brilliant-cut diamond half-hoop, mounted in 18k white, ring size 5, in brown suede Etcetera case With maker's mark for Etcetera Accompanied by report no. 58689 dated 17 March 2011 from the SSEF Swiss Gemmological Institute stating that the 14.65 carat padparadscha sapphire is of Ceylon (Sri Lanka) origin, with no indications of heating; also accompanied by an appendix stating that the natural padparadscha possesses extraordinary characteristics and merits special mention and appreciation. The padparadscha exhibits a subtle orange pink colour, characteristic for this variety of corundum, combined with a fine purity and an attractive shape and cutting style. Microscopic examination revealed few inclusions, which represent the hallmarks of the reputed classical source of padparadscha in Ceylon (Sri Lanka). The stone has been spared exposure to any treatment and its clarity and colour are all natural. A natural padparadscha from Ceylon of this quality is rare Also accompanied by report no. 9704063 dated 22 April 1997 from the Gübelin Gemmological Laboratory stating that the 14.65 carat sapphire is of Sri Lanka (Ceylon) origin, with no indications of thermal treatment and this colour variety may also be called "Padparadscha" in the trade Also accompanied by report no. GRS2010-031096 (Award No 536) dated 4 March 2010 from the Gem Research Swiss Lab stating that the 14.65 carat natural padparadscha is of Sri Lanka origin, orangy-pink colour, with no indication of thermal treatment Also accompanied by report no. 7122158054 dated 18 May 2011 from the Gemological Institute of America stating that the 14.65 carat natural padparadscha sapphire is of Sri Lanka origin, with no indications of heating
