A PAIR OF BALUSTER ‘WUCAI’ VASES, KANGXI Katalognummer: CA0917-080 Porcelain with underglaze blue painting and overglaze enamels China Kangxi Period (1662-1722) Pair of Baluster vases with expressive ‘Wucai’ painting. The wall shows a revolving decoration in ‘100 Antiquities’ style. Depiction of vases, antique vessels and small furniture in a garden setting with auspicious flowers and fruits, including chrysanthemum flowers, pomegranates, peaches and prunus blossoms. Verso with banana tree. On the shoulder a narrow red border with ornamental foliage. The neck with a ‘flower and rock’ border. The glazed and slightly recessed base with underglaze blue double-circle mark. Both vases with a carved wooden domed cover in openwork decoration (later addition).
