A PAIR OF WELL-CARVED DUAN BAMBOO-FORM INKSTONES 18TH CENTURY Each carved as an irregular section of bamboo, the top divided into a large grinding area and a smaller, shallow well area by the thin, raised curved line of the node, with leafy canes of bamboo carved in shallow relief on the sides and the underside as well as areas carved to simulate where the skin of the bamboo has been eaten away, the smooth stone of dark mouse-brown color suffused with a pattern of bingliewen ('cracked ice') in a paler tone and with veins of ochre tone incorporated into the carving, each incised on the underside with a collector's seal, Xiao Linglong shan guan bao cang ji pin -- 8½in.
