Beschreibung:

A rare and detailed nickel plated brass model of a Junkers Ju 188. Wingspan -- 31in. (79cm.) with movable primary and secondary control surfaces, retractable under carriage, opening bomb bay doors revealing racks of bombs, cockpit with crew seats, machine guns (one missing) , engine nacelles with radiators and three blade propellers (some old damages) See colour plate and detaili NOTE: The JU 188 was a development of the JU 88 and first flew as a prototype in late 1940. It was intended to be powered by Jumo 213A in-line engines but, because they were in short supply, the early production aircraft were fitted with 1700 hp BMW 801 G-2 radial engines. This particular model appears to represent a JU 188 A-1 or A-2 both of which had the Jumo engines. Although unsubstantiated, this model is believed to have been intended for presentation to Reichsmarshall Herman Goering during a visit to the Junkers works in 1941, and was retrieved from the bombed works by a Junkers employee after an air raid, and has been in his possession since.
