By Yotsuya Masami (1876-1941), Taisho Period Both finely decorated in nukibori and kebori and inlaid in gilt, shakudo and silver takazogan, both vases showing snow-covered mountainous landscape, one with a fishing village nestled amid pines and mountain ranges, the other depicting thick blankets of snow melting over the steep rock faces in the afternoon sun, the details of the rock faces delicately picked out in katakiribori; the neck of both vases applied with a gilt Imperial kikumon, the base of both vases signed Yotsuya Masami kinkoku with kao; with two wood stands and wood storage box, the inside of the lid inscribed Taisho jugo-nen juichi-gatsu mikka, Nihon Sekijuji-sha dai sanju-yon-kai tsujo sokai narabi soritsu goju-nen shukuten, kogo heika gyokei no setsu sikijo benden ni oite, ten'no kogo ryoheika yori gohairyo (Presented by the Taisho Emperor and Empress, on the 3rd November of Taisho 15 [1926], to the 34th General Assembly of the Japan Red Cross, on the 50th anniversary of the foundation).
