Scarce Springfield Model 1892 Krag bolt action rifle. Made 1894, with an 1892 stock with the ram rod channel expertly filled. Left side of the receiver is marked " U.S./1894 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY. 1795". Round, steel barrel with pedestal sight and blade. Rear tangent sight graduated to 1800 meters. Original blued finish, worn to a nice patina in most areas. Full length wood stock with no cartouche on the left side. "Circle P" proof on the wrist. Smooth steel butt plate with trap door. CONDITION: Metal retains 60% of its original finish with a general patina in most areas. Minor chips and dents in the wood, with a large chip near the cut off. Minor frosting in bore with fair rifling. Mechanically fine.
