A scarce William IV New Land Pattern flintlock Light Dragoon pistol

Round 9 inch barrel; .66 caliber smoothbore; marked on left side of breech with two arrows face-to face, denoting government discharge along with crown over WR and two ordnance marks. Flat lockplate with double line border and rounded tang; reinforced cock; sliding tang safety behind cock; marked in center with crown over WR cypher and small ordnance mark; flurry engraved on pan bridle. Brass New Land Pattern furniture of the late style; no stirrups on buttcap, brass ramrod entry thimble, and simplified triggergaurd with no finial. Steel swivel ramrod. Walnut stock; marked near top on right side of grip with a large broad arrow over BO stamp along with two small crown over stylized A stamps, initals GH as well as EGG stamped behind sideplate. Condition: Good. Barrel and lock with dark brown patina with scattered light pitting; some barrel markings lightly stamped or worn; lock markings crisp. Top jaw and top jaw screw of cock replaced, as well as sliding safety. Some screws marred. Brass furniturewith mellow patina, some dark spots and scattered dents and marks from use. Ramrod possibly replaced, but appears to be period, having dark patina. Stock probably refinished, scattered marks from use; some deep dents and gouges. See Illustration
