A second half 19th century South German carved ivory tusk Horn,

of impressive size, the open end with foliate pierced rim and grotesque maskhead and beastplate and helmet decoration, one side with an oval portrait of the Emperor Constantinus and a figural scene depicting the Battle of Milvius after Raphael, the opposing side with a similar portrait of Alexander the Great and a further battle scene, probably the Battle of Issus, with tapering terminal carved with lions, tigers, horses and serpents, the mouthpiece as a stylised boars head, with suspension loops and later silk tasslled cords, 120 cm. long.
