Late 19th century In the form of a gunbai uchiwa, bearing a kinji ground lightly sprinkled with gold dust, elaborately decorated in typical Shibayama style with a heron wading among lotus plants in a stream while another flies overhead, the reverse with a parrot applied in cloisonné enamel, perched on a flowering plum branch, the top and bottom mounted with silver and the interior of rich nashiji, unsigned; with black lacquer tubular-shaped ojime engraved with grasses and a poem; and a gold lacquer manju, inlaid in raden with a quail, signed Shibayama; wood storage box and cover. 10½cm (4 1/8in).
