Mason after Frederick Tayler slightly spotted, inscription on endleaf dated 1873, original embossed cloth gilt, g.e., [McLean p.61], Joseph Cundall 1846 § Irving (Washington) Rip Van Winkle, a posthumous writing of Dietrich Knickerbocker, 6 etched plates by Charles Simms after Felix Darley, coloured by hand, slightly spotted, original embossed cloth gilt, g.e.; Another copy, the plates not coloured, original printed boards, worn, rebacked, [McLean p.70, listing only the issue in boards], Joseph Cundall 1850; The Hudson Legends: Rip Van Winkle, Sleepy Hollow, 2 separately issued works in one vol., wood-engraved frontspieces and 22 illustrations after Felix Darley and others, original embossed cloth gilt, g.e., New York, G.B. Putnam, 1867, 8vo (4) *** The Cundall edition of Rip Van Winkle appears to be the first separate English edition, not in the British Library.
