A SWISS GILT METAL MOUNTED 'DAUPHIN' CYLINDER MUSIC BOX REUGE MUSIC, SAINTE-CROIX, LATE 20th CENTURY Playing a choice of three tunes via an 8.5 inch pinned cylinder and two-part 144 tooth comb, with tune indication to rear edge, set on a brass bed with standing barrel inscribed REUGE MUSIC, SWITZERLAND to cap and plate engraved with serial number 00758 to front left hand corner, the case with rectangular thick glass cover secured by rosette-capped internal twist uprights at the corners onto a wooden platform incorporating winding key and paper label printed REUGE, MUSIC, SAINTE-CROIX, SWITZERLAND, F. Chopin; Polonaise, Tristesse, Impromptu, Subline Harmonie to underside, the front with start/stop lever and with gilt dolphin cast feet to corners. 34.5cm (13.5ins) wide, 16cm (6.25ins) deep, 8cm (3.125ins) high. Provenance: From the private collection of a titled family. Condition Report: The mechanism is in fine clean fully working condition with no visible faults to the comb or any other part of the mechanism.
