Captain Swiney was a keen artist and photographer serving in India in the late 19th century. One of his photographs was included in the Amateur Photographic Association Prize album for 1868 Among the pictures included is a photograph of Claremont House, Exeter, also included among the testimonials in the album is a letter from Field Marshall Sir George Pollock Bart, dated April 1872.
