A Vincennes bleu lapis ewer ( broc 'Roussel' ) 1755, underglaze blue interlaced L s enclosing date letter C, unidentified painter's mark F, two underglaze blue dots to footrim, incised 3 and N Painted in camaïeu bleu with putti among clouds holding an olive branch and an arrow within richly gilt scroll and diaper-panelled cartouches with trailing gilt flowers, the entwined handle edged in gilding with gilt foliate terminal suspending an entwined flower garland, the lip with gilt dentil and feuilles-de-choux ornament (handle broken off and restored, some re-touching to gilding beneath upper terminal, small chip to rim, some very minor wear to gilding of lower part of two panels) 7½ in. (19 cm.) high
