A WILLIAM AND MARY WALNUT AND FLORAL MARQUETRY STRIKING EIGHT DAY LONGCASE CLOCK CHRISTOPHER GOULD, LONDINI, CIRCA 1695 CASE: hood with fretwork panel, probably replaced spiral-twist columns and conforming replaced half columns to rear slats, trunk door with moulded frame and lenticle, restorations to side veneers, on later bun feet DIAL: 11 in. square brass dial signed along lower edge 'Christop Gould Londini fecit', engraving to the quarter positions, cherub mask and foliate spandrels to silvered chapter ring, matted centre with engraved central rosette, engraving around the date square, ringed winding holes, with seconds ring and blued steel hands (minute replaced) MOVEMENT: five ringed pillars, anchor escapement and internal rack strike on bell, re-instated bolt-and-shutter maintaining power; two brass weights, pendulum, crank key, case key 81 in. (206 cm.) high; 16½ in. (42 cm.) wide; 9¾ in. (23.5 cm.) deep
