The acanthus capped curved spout with fluted rocaille decoration opposite an acanthus C scroll handle with leafy junction, pinned with ivory insulators. The everted die stamped ornate rim of flower heads and foliate scrolls, the domed hinged lid with a detachable Victorian finial formed as a gourd with leafy stem, marked for London circa 1845 by William Hunter. Fully marked underneath, part-marked to handle and lid, the finial with part-marks. The underneath of pot with journeyman’s mark of an X and numerals 249. Length – 28 cm / 11 inches Weight – 815 grams / 26.2 ozt
