A 'YAOZHOU' CELADON 'FLORAL' BOWL NORTHERN SONG / JIN DYNASTY of conical form with deep rounded sides rising from a neatly cut foot to an everted rim, moulded on the interior with a central chrysanthemum flower encircled by a meandering scroll issuing three further blooms and attendant buds among a densely sprouting foliage, the exterior carved with radiating knife-cut ribs lightly impressed with scrolls under the rim, all covered with an olive-green glaze pooling to a deeper tone in the recessed areas, the base and footring left unglazed revealing a light grey ware slightly burnt orange in the firing 19.2 cm., 7 5/8 in.
