Allan Rouse began his career at Abbey Road Studios as an engineer in 1972, working under the Beatles' first recording engineer, Norman 'Hurricane' Smith (who has also signed this book). However, it wasn't until 1991 that Rouse oversaw his first Beatles project, when he copied their mono, stereo, 4-track and 8-track master tapes into digital safety backups. Further major roles included project coordinator for George Martin on the TV documentary 'The Making Of Sgt. Pepper's'; the CD releases of 'Live At The BBC' and the Beatles' 'Anthology'; and the stereo and 5.1 surround mixes for the 1997 reissue of the film 'Yellow Submarine'. Championed for his dedication and technical skill, Rouse became known at Abbey Road Studios as the 'gate-keeper' for The Beatles.
