ADRICHOMIUS, Christianus (1533-85). Theatrum terrae sanctae et biblicarum historiarum . Cologne: Officina Birckmannica, 1628. 2° (395 x 255mm). Engraved title, large engraved folding plan of Jerusalem and 11 engraved folding maps. (Marginal loss to title-page, not affecting engraved title, marginal waterstaining, small clean tear to engraved plan of Jerusalem without loss, occasional light browning, a few maps reinforced at folds.) Contemporary vellum, manuscript title on spine (lacking ties, some staining and board edges chipped). Provenance : Joannis Stefs (ownership inscription and annotations). The delineation of the plan of Jerusalem first appeared in 1584 and is 'THE MOST DRAMATIC AND IMPORTANT OF THE 16TH CENTURY' (Nebenzahl). The present copy is the 5th edition. Kenneth Nebenzahl. (Marginal loss to title-page, not affecting engraved title, marginal waterstaining, small clean tear to engraved plan of Jerusalem without loss, occasional light browning, a few maps reinforced at folds.)
