Art: Tony DiPreta, Ed Robbins, Ed Winiarski, Ed Goldfarb, Larry Woromay. GPAnalysis: A 3.5 sold for $127 in 12/22. Marty Elkin's splash for "In the Still of the Night" (Adventures Into Weird Worlds #7, June 1952) inspired Ed Winiarski's splash for "The Corpse and I" (Mystic #14, November 1952). While Elkin opted for a moodier, more atmospheric approach, Winiarski went straight for the jugular with a hungry rotting corpse in place of Elkin's more subdued shadow-creature. Elkin, determined to have the final word, rehashed his own splash in "Jack the Ripper," published in Comic Media's Horrific #6 (July 1953). Oh, and it seems Winiarski's rotting revenant is itself a swipe from Bill Everett's corpse cover to Astonishing #15 (see lot 35). A limited edition of ten hardcover catalogues is available, in addition to a few dozen softcovers. Fun reference, great keepsake, fully illustrated, chockablock with obscure facts, gags, bon mots.
