In-f°; 180 plates (lightly yellowed, stains, small marginal tears and one hole at p. 3 of 2d part, some of them repaired, one folding pl. partly reinforced, pp. 5 and 7 inverted in 2d part). 19th Century binding : threequarter sheepskin, marbled paper boards, ribbed spine (used and rubbed, joints partly split, edges and corners very dulled, slightly trimmed with sometimes minimal lacks in the handwritten keys). FIRST EDITION of the first three parts of the "FLORA DANICA", a fundamental and monumental work by the German-Danish botanist and doctor Oeder (1728-1791). Illustrated with 180 etchings (3 foldings) of the plants, including bryophytes, lichens and fungi, from the lands of the Danish King which comprised then Denmark, Schleswig-Holstein, Oldenburg-Delmenhorst, Norway, Iceland, the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Preceded by a table of the plants names in Latin and Danish. An entire set of this botanical atlas contained 51 issues and 3 volumes of supplements and was published from 1766 until 1888.
