Fane as 'Portrait of Thomas Parker Esq, Earl of Macclesfield Lord Chancellor of Great Britian, painted between the years 1710 and 1715 when Lord Chief Justice, by Sir Godfrey Kneller' Thomas Parker, 1st Earl of Macclesfield (1666-1733), an eminent lawyer and one of Her Majesty's counsel in the reign Queen Anne, was appointed Queen's Serjeant and knighted on 8th June, 1705. Five years later he was nominated Chief Justice of the Court of Queen's Bench before elevation to the peerage as Lord Parker, Baron of Macclesfield, co. Chester by George I on 10th March, 1716 Lord Parker was constituted Lord High Chancellor of Great Britian on 12th May, 1718. On 15th November, 1721 Baron Parker was advanced to the dignities of Viscount Parker of Ewelme, co. Oxford and Earl of Macclesfield. In default of male issue remainder of the dignities of Baroness, Viscountess and Countess devolved upon his daughter Elizabeth, wife of William Heathcote, and the dignities of Baron, Viscount and Earl to her male issue.
