Second edition of Georg Tannstetter's edition of this early example of comparative geography by "one of the most famous precursors of modern science in the High Middle Ages" (DSB). Albert speculates here about the existence of a southern continent and in a famous shoulder-note on D1r, editor Tannstetter remarks that Vespucci had confirmed Albert's hypothesis.
Very rare: Rare Book Hub records only one copy at auction, in 1979, as well as a copy in Maggs Bros. 1949 catalogue Voyages and Travels, Vol. 4, Part IV. European Americana locates copies only at the Library of Congress, the New York Public Library, The British Library, and the Bibliothèque Nationale. A fine, large copy preserving deckle on several lower edges.
