Album of 1916 material An album containing a collection of tipped-in copies of the Irish Times and other newspapers of the period of the Rising and after, with a few posters tipped in or laid down, in a tall folio scrapbook very stoutly bound in brown cloth. An inscription on the front page indicates the album was compiled by J.J. Simington, Manager of the Irish Times in 1916. Includes a good file of the Irish Times for the period of the Rising, with issues of Monday April 24 (Easter Monday); Tuesday April 25 1916 (the only newspaper to appear in Dublin that day); Wednesday April 26; Thursday April 27;Friday-Saturday-Monday April 28-29-May 1; Tuesday May 2 and daily thereafter to Saturday May 13, with a few others. The issue of Tuesday 25th is the truncated issue, containing a brief notice of the Rising - not the earlier issue suppressed by Dublin Castle which included fuller reports. The newspapers folded vertically with some tears and fraying, in delicate state (please examine with care). As a collection, w.a.f.
