LONDON BINDING OF CONTEMPORARY GILT-TOOLED BLACK TURKEY, the strawberry roll-tool border forming a large panel with a centre compartment of 'drawer-handles' and six lobed compartments at sides onlaid in red, the compartments all filled with four-petal pointillé flowers and two-leaf sprigs, the remaining ground tooled with spangles, tulips, daisy-like flowers, and seven-petal pointillé rosettes, the spine panels with floral onlay in red or blue (originally painted in silver but with the paint now flaked away, a few worm holes to upper cover, joints a little rubbed, one spine onlay lacking and others chipped).
