INGERSOLL. 8 3/4 by 6 inches in an attractive early 20th Century (?) brown pebble grain leather with the gilt title, "Autographs," on the spine and all edges gilt. Gilt printed title page reads: "Autographs J.B. Lippincott & Co., Philadelphia." The title page bears the signatures of "H.G. Davis, 1872," and "Grace T. Davis, 1887." (Miss Davis was 18 in 1887). The book has approximately 300 unnumbered pages but only the first 144 (which were numbered in pencil by hand at some point) include the 289 autographs which are generally 3 to a page (very occasionally 2 or 4 to a page). The autographs are in ink and most often include the person's "home state," or in the case of cabinet members the "office title." Condition: The autograph book is in lovely condition inside and out and the autographs are clear and strong.
