AN EARLY LINED AND FITTED OAK CASE FOR A FLINTLOCK SPORTING GUN, lined in coarse green baize, the lid with simple moulded border and brass carrying handle of Chippendale form, circa 1775; and a lined and fitted rosewood-veneered case (some splitting and losses) for a d.b. centre-fire hammer rifle, lined in purple velvet (some wear and damage), containing an ivory patch-box and ivory-handled tool, the lid decorated with stamped gilt Prince of Wales's feathers and foliage, the latter partly gilt, and stamped in gilt letters 'London Armoury, James Kerr & Co. Armourers To The National Rifle Association 54, King William Street, E.C.' with gilt royal arms above, the exterior fitted with elaborate pierced gilt-brass mounts engraved with foliage, circa 1885 41½in.x7¾in. and 33½in.x10¼in.
