An early pressed bisque fashionable doll with flat flange neck lined with kid, closed mouth, fixed deep blue eyes, unpierced ears, remains of skin wig, kid body and bisque arms wearing grey wool and silk day dress with train and black lace and blue braid decoration, underclothes, boot and blue and white striped muslin underskirt -- 16½in. (42cm.) high, circa 1860, with feint oval mark on chest of Simonne (third finger on right and left hands damaged, wig sparse, dress damaged at sleeve and back and lace falling) See Colour Plate 9
