AN EGYPTIAN BRONZE PLAQUE LATE PERIOD TO PTOLEMAIC PERIOD, CIRCA 4TH CENTURY B.C. In the form of a lion, perhaps Maahes, striding to the left with his head turned out over his left shoulder, the raised, smooth mane with a C-hook at the shoulder, the ruff framing the underside of his face also raised, with individual locks incised, the whiskers and other details of the face also incised, including the tufts on the interior of the rounded ears, a tapering tenon at the top of the head for attachment of an attribute, a thin rectangular tenon below the preserved forepaw for insertion 7¼ in. (18.4 cm.) long
