AN EGYPTIAN SCHIST FRAGMENT LATE PERIOD TO PTOLEMAIC PERIOD, 664-30 B.C. From a statue of a striding male figure, preserving the lower portions of his muscular right leg and two faces of the back pillar, one face of the back pillar carved in sunk relief with the goddess Neith, wearing a tightly-fitted sheath, her left arm lowered behind, her right arm bent before her, wearing a tripartite wig and broad collar, an inscription above her, reading: "[Mayor] of the City of Neith (Sais)," and one behind her, reading: "...every great one, being one whom...lifted up/extolled/announced(?)" or possibly "commanded(?);" the other face of the back pillar engraved with a hieroglyphic inscription in two columns, reading in the right column: "...he/his/him, venerated/revered by his father, praised by his mother, whom his siblings glorify, Controller of the Estates of the Red Crown, in order to satisfy(?)..," and in the left column: "...the...and God's Fathers who enter the Temple of Neith in order to make the God's-Offerings, may ye glorify my name in the [secret?] places..." 5¾ in. (14.6 cm.) high
