AN ENGLISH CAVALRY TROOPER'S BACKSWORD with straight fullered single-edged blade double-edged towards the point, long ricasso etched on each face with G.R. crowned and 'Harvey' on one side, iron half-basket hilt compsed of two flat side bars linked to a circular plate and framing a triangular knuckle-guard, flattened bun-shaped pommel, and spirally grooved wooden grip (wire-binding missing, slight pitting overall); and another cavalry trooper's backsword, the slotted half-basket iron hilt with twu scrolled side-bars on the outside, globular pommel, and spirally grooved leather-covered wooden grip (leather late), both third quarter of the 18th Century 36in. blades (2)
