Arabic manuscript on paper, text written in three lines of thuluth followed by two lines of naskhi script, illuminated cornerpieces containing European-style floral sprays, inner margins ruled in gold, outer borders of green board decorated with intertwining floral motifs in gold, in mount, framed, 170 x 215 mm.; and a calligraphic composition depicting two birds incorporating invocations to God and the Prophet Muhammad, signed by Vali Baba, Ottoman Turkey, dated AH 1312/AD 1894-95, ink drawing on board, cornerpieces and outer borders decorated with European-style floral sprays in gold on a blue ground, in mount, framed 265 x 340 mm.(2)
