Beschreibung:

An important and finely engineered 1¼in:1ft scale model of the twin crank compound two speed four shaft general purpose traction engine 'Jennifer', built by H.Greenly, signed and dated 1914. --15½ x 25in (39.3 x 63.5cm) With silver soldered and riveted copper boiler with fittings including water and pressure gauges, safety, simpling, blower and clack valves and provision for a compressed air blower. Engine details include cylinders 11./16in and 1in bores x 1 3/8in stroke, ratchet operated lubricator with take-off for top slide bars, forked connecting rods, Stephenson's link reverse, built up crankshaft with two roadspeeds inside the hornplates engaged with dog clutches, eccentric driven feedpump and by-pass and pierced disc flywheel. Chassis details include spoked straked wheels with brass hubcaps, worm and roller chain steering, cable drum, cable and fairleads, damper, hand feed pump, dummy drivers seat signed by the builder and three quarter length planked canopy. Finished in maroon, black and polished brightwork. Current boiler certificate. Drawings. This engine was built 1913/14 by H.Greenly as a single cylinder engine to the designs subsequently published in English Mechanics 1931. Plans were also published for a twin cylinder version. It is believed this is the only traction engine to have been built by H.Greenly, and was thought to have been destroyed during the 1939/45 war. It is not known when the conversion to compound was carried out. See illustration (without canopy and spudpan)
