AN IMPORTANT PAIR OF WILLIAM AND MARY SILVER-GILT SALVERS MARK OF PHILIP ROLLOS LONDON, CIRCA 1690, THE ENGRAVING ATTRIBUTED TO JOHN ROLLOS Each circular and on detachable flaring foot with beaded knop and cut-card border under base, with gadrooned borders, the field engraved with a coat-of-arms with an earl's coronet within drapery mantling, marked under base with maker's mark only 11 in. (28.2 cm.) diam. 84 oz. (2,616 gr.) The arms are those of Cavendish, for William, 4th Duke of Devonshire (1640-1707), who succeeded his father in 1684. (2)
