AN INDIAN IVORY-INLAID CABINET-ON-STAND of rectangular form with two hinged doors revealing a variety of drawers of varying sizes, the doors and sides inlaid with panels of floral sprays within a scrolling meandering vine border, the top with a similar central panel within plain surround, the inside of each door with a stylised figure of the emperor Akbar surrounded by similar floral sprays and borders, the central drawer depicting a seated ruler and his mistress among floral sprays, a small panel below depicting a European shooting at animals, two musicians on the drawer above, flanked by two vertical panels of scrolling vine which remove to reveal three concealed narrow drawers, all the other drawers with depictions of attendants bearing gifts, English ormolu mounts of Regency period and earlier, the later stand with frieze of flowerhead lozenges, spirally-turned legs with inlaid ivory floral spray above, the cabinet early 18th Century, restorations, possibly later border to the top the cabinet 32in.(81cm.) wide; 20in.(51cm.) high; 19in.(48cm.) deep overall 48in. (122cm.) high
