with short terminal spike (slightly bent), curved leading edge curling sharply at the top, stout rear spike, a pair of basal lugs, tapering faceted socket fitted with a sweated-on copper alloy collar, on a later wooden haft, 86.0 cm head Provenance Joe Kindig Jr. (1898-1971), thence by descent Another roncone with two copper alloy collars and struck with a sickle mark associated with the Tuscan town of Lucca, is preserved in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (acc. No. 14.25.37). For another of this form see Trosso, 1988, p. 264, no. 12. Part proceeds to benefit the Acquisition Fund of the Arms and Armor department, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
