An Old Babylonian haematite cylinder seal Circa 1900-1700 B.C. With two scenes, the first showing a male worshipper presenting an animal offering to the standing sun-god, Shamash, who has his foot raised on a 'mountain' and holds a saw-weapon in his hand, a standing suppliant goddess behind the worshipper, the second scene showing a worshipper pouring a libation into a vessel before a standing god who holds a scimitar, a priest stands on a raised dais holding a bucket and a sprinkler, a human head, monkey and sun disc within a crescent in the field, chipped; and another Old Babylonian haematite cylinder seal with a worshipper presenting an animal offering to a deity who holds out a cup and is seated upon a raised platform, a naked priest holding a bucket behind, a second scene showing the sun-god, Shamash, with foot raised on a 'mountain' facing a nude hero, a human head, double-headed sceptre and sun disc within crescent in the field, a cuneiform inscription reads "Shamash, Aya", Aya being the sun-god's consort 1 in. (2.5 cm.) and 1 1/8 in. (2.9 cm.) high respectively (2)
