An unusual and near pair of Liberty's Thrym terracotta planters
early 20th century one stamped designed and manufactured by Liberty & Co. regd no. 405034 the other stamped on the underside Carter & Co. made for Liberty & Co. 38cm.; 15ins high This model is illustrated in Archibald Knox and Mary Seton Watts modern Celtic art garden pottery by Veronica Franklin Gould page 20, and was advertised in the Liberty & Co Yuletide catalogue gifts catalogue of 1903-4 as the Thrym pot. Carter & Co were supplier of seeds to his majesty George V and occasionally made terracotta pots, although it is extremely rare to find one stamped made for Liberty & Co.
