Obv: small cross with +EDELSTANREX legend (fully retrograde). Rev: with ENEE / LBERT legend in two lines with three small crosses between and trefoil of pellets above and below, for the moneyer Enelbert. 1.38 grams. Very fine, edge beading partially absent. Very rare, interesting. Footnotes The moneyer Ene(e)lbert (see Blunt, p. 87 for discussion on this name) is known for north eastern variant coins, attributed to a mint at York, of the bust crowned type (BMC x) but appears to be previously unrecorded for the two line type; the full retrograde obverse legend, with reversed letters, is most unusual and suggests a Viking imitative origin, most probably struck at York.
